Oreochromis niloticus was exposed to 10% of the LC50 values of Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd (4.0, 6.0, 0.2 and 1.6 ppm respectively) over 7, 15 and 30 days and changes in serum glucose, total protein, albumin, D-Bilirubin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and total cholesterol levels were determined.	No mortality was observed during the experiments. Total protein, albumin and D-Bilirubin levels did not change compared to controls and during the exposure periods, whereas serum glucose, AST, ALT and total glucose levels showed an increase compared to control fish and decreased with increasing exposure periods. Our results revealed that heavy metals can alter serum biochemical parameters and cause metabolic disfunctions.
