Algae can be used in different fields due to the valuable metabolites accumulated in the cells such as foodsupplement andhealth-protective, animal feed, fertilizerdue tothe healing properties onsoil structure, natural food colorant, cosmetics as well as wastewater treatment since algae have the ability to bind the metals. At the Ege University, Cukurova University and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University carried out various studies on the production of polysaccharide, fatty acid like as ARA (arachidonic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), pigments as phycocyanin, phycoerythrin, astaxhantine on the area of algal biotechnology with the species of Spirulina (Arthrospira) platensis (Nordstedt) Gomont) Haematococcus pluvialis Flotow, Chlorella vulgaris Beyerinck (Beijerinck), Isochrysis galbana Parke, Nannochloropsis oculata (Droop) D.J.Hibberd, Phaeodactylum tricornutum Bohlin, Porphyridium cruentum (S.F.Gray) Nägeli (Porphyridium purpureum (Bory de Saint-Vincent) K.M.Drew & R.Ross). Especially in the process of crop production to be economical during the harvesting clustering methods and studies are carried out at different wavelengths of light. Recently, the potential of microalgae as a renewable and non-toxic source of energy has been shown for the production of biofuels. Especially, the studies on the stress factors triggering the increase of the lipid content of algae, which is also a raw material for biodiesel, have been continuing. Moreover, the use of macroalgae Ulva rigida C.Agardh ve Gracilaria verrucosa (Hudson) Papenfuss( longissima (S.G.Gmelin) M.Steentoft, L.M.Irvine & W.F.Farnham) as an organic fertilizer and in hydroponic systems have been studied. Keywords : Algal biotechnology, microalgal metabolites, algal fertilizer
