Gobiidae Larval (2011-2012) Diversity, Abundance and Distribution in Marmaris Bay

The investigation was carried out inner and shallower part of Marmaris Bayin 2011 April to May. Horizontal hauls were operated with WP-2 type plankton net with 200 mikron mesh size at speed of 2.5 knots in 10 minute period of time. Gobiidae larvae were have been comprised of the highest percentages in all larvae, in the winter (84%), spring (64%) and summer (54 %). Pomatoschistus spp., Gobius niger Linneaus,1758, Gobius paganellus Linneaus,1758, Pomatoschistus minutus (Pallas,1770), Pomatoschistus microps (KrØyer, 1938) species larvae were identified maximum 38 m waters of the Bay. Gobiidae larvae were mostly concentrated in the western entrance of Keçiadası and the western part of the coast where the seagrass and eastern and southeastern part of the coast where Yalancıboğaz section exists. Gobiidae larval densities in the bay between 0.63 to 31.88 individuals/100m3. As a demersal Gobiidae eggs laid to the sea bottom could be damaged due to the boat anchor`s or accumulated petrol or petrol derivatives material.
